Hansel – Our Foster Dog – Adoption Pending

Are you my forever home?

Hello handsome Hansel! This mellow (yes, we said mellow!) 2 year-old GSP is such a great boy. Maybe it’s just the recent heat wave in California, but Hansel is just happy to nap throughout the day and go on a few short walks. His foster home is still waiting for the crazy GSP energy to emerge! Hansel is also a major sweetheart who loves to be loved and give it back, too. He is well-mannered, sleeps well through the night, seems to be house trained, and is working on crate training. All in all, a very good boy – with good looks, too!

Hansel does have heartworm disease and will be treated for a few months before he is ready for adoption. Please apply if you’re interested!

Hansel has heartworm disease, which requires several months of treatment. Heartworm disease typically costs $2,000-3,000 per dog (including all the medicines, tests, and treatments) to treat, and that doesn’t include the normal vet care of examinations, vaccinations and neuter.
Hansel also required emergency surgery when what we thought was an old pellet wound became badly infected. Turns out it wasn’t the pellet that caused the issue, but a foxtail! The vet found an old foxtail about 4 inches deep in Hansel’s rib area and was able to extract it so there will be no future drainage. The total for this procedure was about $1,800.
Please consider donating to Hansel’s medical fund to ensure he can get the treatment he needs!

Thank you to Hansel’s sponsors!
