Dobby

Oh Dobby! This very handsome 1-year-old male is all GSP puppy! He is smart as a whip, has a lot of energy, but crashes hard when it is nap time.

While he has an unknown past, it is clear that someone took the time to teach Dobby basic cues and house-train and crate-train him. He enthusiastically bounds to the kennel when it is mealtime and sleeps like an angel through the night in there too (although he much prefers sharing the human bed). Dobby is also very enthusiastic about walks and car rides, going outside, and coming back inside. Since arriving at his foster home, he has learned to sit and then wait at the door rather than rushing in when the door is half open. His foster home is also working on leash manners, cues like “mat”,  and being a good roommate. He has more work to do on all those fronts, but he has made great progress since being in our foster program.

Dobby would do best in an active home that can make sure he gets the exercise he desires and needs to be calm in the house (90 minutes every day, rain or shine). He has done well with kids, other dogs, and really loves to play. He is also currently on a hydrolyzed food diet to help with unknown allergies that should be continued after adoption until a vet recommends something else. With patience and an understanding of the breed, Dobby’s new roommate(s) will be so lucky to add him to their pack, he will be awesome as he continues to mature.
