Vera – passed away June 26, 2019

Vera passed on June 26, 2019, about 3:45, in her favorite chair, at home. Estimated to be 15/16 years of age. A great friend and companion, she always wanted to be where the people were. It was easy to forget she wasn’t a human. Her favorite things were lying in the sun by the back door in the morning, thrashing through the bushes in the back yard chasing scents, avoiding the lawn entirely, her Kong toy (especially when I filled it with cold cheese tortellini) and meeting other dogs. Maxine

Maxine (now Molly) landed at a foster home where she seemed to fit in perfectly. She got along great with her Weim sister immediately, and when she tried to play chase with the house cat, kitty let her know who owned the home. She quickly learned to leave that cat alone, and save her pointing for street cats hiding under parked cars outside. Molly became her foster dad’s shadow, and figured it was her job to try to make him smile regularly. No wonder he decided to keep her. Thank you, Sean, for fostering and adopting Molly. Pluto

We knew that Pluto was going to be a foster fail even before his family knew it. Who could resist those big floppy ears? He came into rescue with no training, afraid of everything. One thing this young guy was sure of, though, was that he dug his foster dad. The two of them did everything together, and that’s how Pluto got over his fear of getting into a car or being left alone. He grew to trust and love his foster family. They are still working with a trainer to help him understand that other people can be okay, too. […]
