Cody is a 7-year-old neutered male German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP), about 55 lbs, with a calm, sweet, affectionate personality and a true devotion to his people. His current family is heartbroken to let him go but due to major life changes—caring for aging family members and grandchildren across two cities—they’re unable to give him the consistent time and presence he deserves.
The Good Stuff:
- House-trained and crate-trained – Cody does great in the house and loves his crate. He sleeps in it by choice at night.
- Basic training – Knows loose leash walking and basic cues.
- Good health – Will come with vet records. is up to date on vaccinations. Microchipped. Mild acid reflux.
- Dog-social – Well-socialized with other dogs, big and small. Cats, however, are a firm no due to his strong prey drive.
- Kid-friendly – Calm and gentle with children. He’s spent lots of time around kids ages 2 to 14 and takes it all in stride.
- Travel buddy – Easygoing in the car and has even ridden in boats and kayaks!
- Loyal companion – This guy will be your shadow. Whether you’re relaxing at home or out for a drive, Cody just wants to be by your side.
- Good in the home – Calm, mellow, and affectionate—he doesn’t need a ton of exercise, just someone to hang out with.
Things to Note:
- Cody is protective of his home and family. He may need to be held back when strangers first arrive, then he settles quickly.
- He’s a fence-jumper if left alone in the yard and will try to go looking for you—so he needs a secure setup.
Cody would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the day. He’s low-maintenance for a GSP, content with companionship over constant activity. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving dog to share your life, Cody could be the perfect match.
