Meet Romeo, a handsome, 75-lb, neutered 6-year-old male German Shorthaired Pointer. Healthy, microchipped, Romeo is ready for a fresh start with someone who can give him the time, activity, and companionship he needs.
Romeo’s family’s work situation has changed, and he now spends long hours crated alone each day. This isn’t the right life for an active, people-focused dog like him. They’ve made the hard decision to find him a better fit.
Personality & Training
- Knows basic cues: sit, stay, come, drop it, kennel, outside, inside
- House-trained and crate-trained
- Loves to play ball and will run for hours if allowed
- Total water dog — swimming is a favorite activity
- Enjoys car rides
- Indifferent to strangers but deeply attached to his people
Good With…
- Dogs: Yes, after warming up. Plays rough with paws and mouth but never aggressive.
- Cats: Typically ignores unless they run.
- Kids: Best with ages 12+ due to size, strength, and enthusiasm. Has lived with a grandchild without incident but can be a “bull in a china shop” when excited.
Needs & Challenges
Left alone for long periods, Romeo becomes stressed and can chew or dig if left loose in the house or yard. When crated he can safely be left alone for a few hours. Doggy daycare hasn’t been a fit — he’s too vocal and high-energy for most groups. He needs a home where someone is home most of the day — a remote worker, stay-at-home household, or active retiree.
Exercise Requirements
Romeo is strong and energetic. Without a confident handler, he will pull on leash. His ideal home will provide:
multiple daily walks, plenty of off-leash running in a secure area, and swimming opportunities whenever possible.
If you’re looking for a loyal, athletic GSP who will be your constant companion, Romeo is ready to meet you. He’s eager for a home where his person is around most of the time and where he can burn off energy in fun, active ways.
