I have been dreading typing this message so I am quite delayed in sending it to you all.
My heart is deeply saddened to share that my sidekick, shotgun-rider, and companion, Baron has gone on to run and play in the fields of heaven. I first adopted Baron in January 2015 as I had moved into a new area and was lacking the social interaction I needed. Baron quickly became my running partner, getting me out of the house on a very regimented schedule, and meeting new friends. In 2021 we moved to Montana and Baron quickly embraced mountain and country living, accompanying me on every journey – trail running, hiking, fishing, camping, and even snowshoeing! When Baron first came into my life, he was an itchy, skinny, anxious, detached dog; after just a few months in Montana, it was obvious he and I had both found our happy place. Our forever home! Baron gave me 10 and 1/2 years of support and love and just 5 days after his 12th birthday, his strong, active body and mind gave up.
Just before he called it quits, we were able to share one last big hike, 4 miles in the forest along a beautiful creek to a waterfall, and a small walk by his favorite river. He was more than just a dog or a pet, he was the love and support I needed to rebuild my life. I miss him greatly and no other four-legged friend will be as important to me as he was. Thank you, NorCal GSP Rescue, for connecting me to Baron!
