FLACO KALVIN
We adopted FLACO in June 2020 when he was a little over 8 years old. One reason for rescuing a senior, was a year prior, we lost our first GSP rescue LYRA very unexpectedly (6 months old – 11 years old, too young).
FLACO was thought to have ‘social issues’. After learning about his history, we knew we were capable of bringing this boy home and giving him a quality peaceful life. Any rescue initially will need to adapt through fear and being confused. Frankly, FLACO was a dream to relocate. Not to say, those ‘social issues’ weren’t there, but we learned about him by spending all day everyday with him. A better rescue we couldn’t have found.
FLACO became family. We kept him with us always. No boarding, leaving him home alone, etc. All travel, regardless of distance or duration, he was there living his life with ours. We loved it. He loved it.
Even though we started him early with the supplements, dog ramps into the truck and SUV, by 12 years old, the arthritis was moving in, but we kept it well managed, so the walks, the play, the traveling, etc. never stopped.
Early in Oct 2025, FLACO had some kind of serious neurological/physical ‘event’. Over the course of a week, we worked with him, and he fought really hard and did make gains. Until 16 October, 2025 when it all came crashing down on him. He collapsed. and the look on his face was clear. “I cant do this. I Love you both. Thank You for giving me the best years of my life.” An hour later, we watched him go to sleep. FLACO made it to 13 1/2 years old.
We will always love you FLACO.
