Meet Misty – Your Laid-Back, Loving Companion

Misty is a 6-year-old, 50-pound spayed girl who is ready to find the cozy, loving home she deserves. She’s up to date on vaccinations, recently had a dental cleaning, and is all set for her next chapter. If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate dog who enjoys the simple pleasures in life—sunbathing, lounging, and staying close to her people—Misty may be your perfect match.

Misty’s foster family describes her as super sweet and incredibly loving. She truly enjoys being around people and will happily follow you from room to room just to keep you company. She’s a classic “Velcro dog” who loves affection and being near her humans. Whether you’re working from home, watching TV, or relaxing on the couch, Misty will be right there beside you.

One of Misty’s best qualities is how well she gets along with others. She loves other dogs and enjoys curling up next to her canine companions. She has also been calm and comfortable around cats, and she’s been perfectly fine when kids walk by her. Misty’s easygoing nature makes her a wonderful addition to many types of households.

Around the house, Misty is a champion lounger. Her favorite activities include lying in the sun, relaxing indoors, and quietly following her foster around the house. She also enjoys chew toys and stuffed animals and will happily entertain herself with them. She’s house-trained and settles in nicely at home, making her an easy companion in day-to-day life.

Misty is also doing well with her crate training. She sleeps in a crate at night and can make it through the night comfortably, although she may give a few soft whimpers in the morning when she’s ready to start the day. Recently, she even spent a night snoozing on a dog bed in the living room—checking in briefly with her foster at 5 a.m. before returning to her cozy spot. She typically spends up to four hours alone during the day in her crate and does well.

While Misty enjoys getting out for walks and short hikes, she’s definitely not an endurance athlete. She prefers a slower pace and sometimes likes to stop for a little breather along the way. Because of this, she would likely do best in a home with someone who enjoys relaxed walks rather than long, strenuous adventures.

Her leash manners are still a work in progress—she can pull and occasionally needs encouragement to keep moving – with patience and consistency, she should continue to improve. She’s also known to be a bit of a counter surfer if tasty items are left unattended!

Misty has a wonderfully gentle presence in the home. She’s quiet (her foster says she hasn’t barked at all), doesn’t dig, and has never tried to jump a fence. Occasionally, she may nibble on an item like a shoe or coaster, but she responds well when redirected.

Because Misty prefers a more relaxed lifestyle, her ideal home would likely be with someone who enjoys a calm companion rather than a high-energy hiking partner. A home with another friendly dog could be wonderful for her, as she enjoys canine company, but the most important thing is a person or family who appreciates a devoted, affectionate dog.

Misty’s foster shares that many friends who meet her immediately fall in love and suggest she should stay forever—that’s how sweet she is. While she isn’t quite the right fit for her foster’s active lifestyle, she will make an incredibly loyal and loving companion for the right home.

If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate dog who will happily lounge beside you, soak up the sunshine, and fill your home with quiet companionship, Misty may be the perfect addition to your family. 💛
