Etta

Meet Etta — a soft-hearted, sunshine-loving girl with a gentle soul and a whole lot of love to give.

Etta is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart. She’s incredibly sweet, loves people, and is perfectly content making new friends wherever she goes. She knows her name, walks beautifully on leash, and enjoys her daily strolls (even if they’re currently on the shorter side while she undergoes heartworm treatment). She rarely barks, but when she does, it’s endearingly adorable. At night, she settles in easily and sleeps soundly, making her a calm and comforting presence in the home.

One of Etta’s most charming quirks? When she gets excited, she’ll gently pick up a shoe and carry it over to you like a prized gift. It’s her special way of saying hello.

Etta is currently heartworm positive and has several months of treatment ahead of her. This means her activity needs to stay low-key for now, but once she’s cleared, she’ll likely be thrilled to stretch those legs more—she’d happily walk all day if she could. Through it all, she remains easygoing and cooperative, taking everything in stride.

She’s great with other dogs and would do well either as a solo companion or with a canine friend. She’s also comfortable around people of all ages and would fit nicely into many types of households.

Etta does have a few challenges that her future family should be ready to support her through. She is incontinent and wears diapers, and while she sometimes signals when she needs to poop, she doesn’t do so for urination. She may occasionally have accidents, including in her diaper. She also has a habit of spinning (mostly to the left), and while it doesn’t slow her spirit, it’s part of her unique personality.

Etta is a bit of a foodie—she loves snacks, chews (especially yak cheese!), and would absolutely help herself to any unattended food or garbage if given the chance. A home that can manage her environment (think secured trash and clear counters) will set her up for success.

Despite these quirks, Etta is wonderfully easy to have around. She can be trusted loose in the home or in a crate when you’re away, settles calmly, and doesn’t struggle with separation. She enjoys lounging in the sun, savoring a good chew, and simply being near her people.

Etta may be a “typical old lady” with a few extra needs, but what she gives in return is immeasurable: quiet companionship, unwavering sweetness, and a heart that just wants to be close to her people.

If you’re looking for a gentle, devoted dog who will love you endlessly (and maybe bring you a shoe or two), Etta might just be your perfect match.

Etta will be available for adoption in early fall 2026 once she has concluded her treatment. She is accepting applications now. If you’d like to contribute to her medical fund, she’d love to have your support.
