Lenny

Meet Lenny — The Sweet, Smart Pup Ready for His Next Chapter

Lenny is a 5-month-old puppy who has bounced back beautifully after recovering from parvo. He’s gaining weight, building confidence, and showing his foster family every day just what a wonderful little dog he’s becoming. At roughly 17 lbs, he’s still growing, still learning, and already a total joy to have around.

Temperament & Personality
Lenny is remarkably chill for a young German Shorthaired Pointer, though his playful side shows itself a little more each day. He’s sweet with everyone, gentle in spirit, and genuinely wants to connect with his people. He loves exploring outdoors—especially if you’re right there with him—and when he’s done adventuring, his absolute favorite place is curled up on a human lap. He’s a shadow dog at the moment, always wanting to know where his people are and preferring not to be left alone.

Training & Puppy Basics
Lenny is smart, eager, and learns quickly. He already knows:

  • Sit

  • Wait (particularly for meals—he’ll hold until you say “ok”)

  • His name, and comes when called

House-training is 99% there, with only the occasional pee accident as he continues to learn the routine. Impressively, he hasn’t had a single poop accident since day one. He uses the dog door to go in and out and is working on reliably taking himself outside for potty breaks.

Crate training is going well at night, as long as the crate is in a room with a human for reassurance. During the day he currently doesn’t use the crate. He’s a light sleeper and very aware of your comings and goings—classic puppy attachment.

As for typical puppy behavior, Lenny is in the mouthy, nibbling stage. He’s quick to redirect to toys and responds well with guidance, but shoes, loose clothing, and hands need some monitoring. Chew toys—especially his stuffed bunny and sloth—are essential.

Energy & Play Style
Lenny’s exercise so far has been natural puppy-level bursts of play throughout the day. He enjoys romping with the older resident dogs—chase, tug-of-war, wrestling—and handles these sessions with good social skills for his age. On leash, he’s small enough to manage easily and is doing fine with early leash exposure.

Social Skills

  • Dogs: Great with other dogs of various ages and sizes.

  • Cats: He has learned to respect the resident cat and is doing well.

  • Kids: Has only met adult children; at his age and temperament, he should adapt well but there’s no direct data for young kids yet.

  • People: Sweet, approachable, and gentle with everyone he meets.

Around the Home
Lenny is allowed on furniture and is a professional snuggler. He rides well in the car and seems to genuinely enjoy outings. He settles beautifully in his foster home and has made himself comfortable quickly. Lenny truly prefers having his people nearby and will wake up from a dead sleep to follow if you leave the room. With time, routine, and confidence-building, this should improve.

Who Would Be a Great Match for Lenny?
Someone who:

  • Is ready for normal puppy training, including chewing and structure.

  • Can offer companionship throughout the day while he builds security.

  • Enjoys having a smart, affectionate, slightly clingy puppy as a sidekick.

  • Appreciates both the mellow and the playful sides of a young GSP.

Lenny is a bright, loving pup with an amazing foundation—and he’s ready to grow into an outstanding companion for the right home. If you’re looking for a sweet, smart, easy-to-love youngster to raise and shape, Lenny might just be the one.
