Nikki

Nikki

Nikki is a happy, curious, affectionate puppy who is eager to explore the world and be part of whatever her people are doing. She’s a bit skittish when meeting new people, particularly men, but warms up with time. Once she feels comfortable, she’s a cuddly, energetic Velcro dog who loves being close to her people.

Nikki gets along well with other dogs and would really love a canine friend who enjoys playing. Even when the resident dogs aren’t interested in playing, she respects their boundaries when they let her know they’re done. She’s also been around teenagers and does well with them; younger children should be fine, too.

At 10 months old and 39 pounds, Nikki is still very much a puppy, with plenty of energy and some growing up to do. She’s curious about everything and everyone, and while she listens more often than not, continued training and consistency will help her become the well-mannered companion she’s capable of being. She already knows or is learning sit, wait, go to bed, and outside, and is working on down and paw. She’s a smart girl who should do very well with structure and positive reinforcement.

Nikki is house-trained and does a good job letting you know when she needs to go outside. She’s also fantastic in her crate. Just tell her it’s bedtime, and she’ll walk right in. She sleeps through the night without a problem. She does, however, enjoy having her people around and isn’t particularly happy when they leave, so she’ll benefit from a home that can continue helping her become more comfortable with alone time.

Walks are still a work in progress. Nikki is an enthusiastic zig-zagger who hasn’t quite figured out where her body is in relation to the people walking her. She may dart from side to side, get underfoot, or run into your legs, so she’ll need some leash training and patience. She also has a growing appreciation for barking, and once she gets going, convincing her to stop can be a challenge.

Her favorite activities include loving on people, playing with her stuffed bear (especially if it squeaks), occasionally chasing a ball, watching the world outside, and, of course, eating! Car rides are still a bit of a mixed bag, but she’s happy to give them a try.

Nikki would do best with an active family willing to keep her busy with exercise, play, and continued training. Another playful dog would be a great bonus, as she has plenty of enthusiasm to share. She’s a sweet, affectionate young dog with lots of potential, and with the right structure and guidance, she’s going to make someone a wonderful companion. Her future family is going to hit the jackpot!
