Mountain Litter

Puppy Plea: 9 GSP Puppies in Need On 7/14, we saved a litter of nine GSP puppies with parvo from the shelter. For one pup the illness had progressed too far and we lost him shortly after rescue. Rest in peace, Tehama. Your sweet soul will be remembered, even if we only knew you a short time. The remaining eight are getting the best vet care possible to help pull through. For each puppy that is receiving round the clock intensive care, we will need to fund an estimated $3,000-5,000, or $18,000 total at the high end. Please help us get […]

Jaeger – Our Foster Dog

Meet Jaeger, a handsome, fun and upbeat 3 year-old boy with energy and pep. Jaeger came to us as a stray. He was likely on his own for a bit since he had foxtails removed from ears and paw, but is nicely recovering and otherwise healthy. He weighs in at about 53 lbs, and he’s got some muscle! Jaeger’s foster mom reports that he is happy to meet new people and new dogs, and generally just wants to have fun. Jaeger hasn’t yet been tested with cats. He enjoys leash walking, and like most GSPs, has typical trouble with a […]

Zeek (now Cody)

Zeek (now Cody) is adopted! One-year old Zeek ran away from home and ended up in a shelter. Perhaps he took off after a critter, as he has keen hunting instincts. He is fascinated by turkeys, obsessed with squirrels, and loves to hunt lizards and gophers. He is now in a forever home that will keep him busy, with a dad who is a marathon runner and a canine sibling to play with. Since the existing dog is named Zeke, Zeek will be called Cody. Thank you, Lorene and Charlotte and Al for fostering Zeek.

Cappie

Cappie is adopted! Cappie was only one year old when he was surrendered to a shelter by his owner, perhaps because he had been hit by a car at some point. He had suffered trauma to his right hip and was in pain, with muscle atrophy and lameness. When he came into our care he had kennel cough and he was underweight, but he was housetrained and showed good manners. Cappie impressed his foster family as a happy, active boy, very sweet, and relatively calm for his age. He got along well with their dog. We got him the surgery […]

Gunner – Referral Posting – Citrus Heights, CA

*PENDING* Gunner’s had a rough year – he wound up in a local shelter and shortly thereafter was adopted by a super awesome couple.  He was so happy to have a Mom and Dad.  However life changes happen and now it’s just Gunner and Dad.  Dad is unable to give him enough exercise with his job.  So he’s decided to find him a forever home at last!  Despite the tough year Gunner is an easy going, energetic young dog (~2yrs) that rolls with the punches! He has a natural hunting instinct, he runs with his nose on the ground picking […]

Suzy – Our Foster Dog

Suzy is a sweet 9-year-old female who ended up at the shelter as a stray and we couldn’t feel luckier to have rescued this adorable girl. You would never know that she’s been through so much already because she’s so calm and gentle. Suzy loves to snuggle with people and sleep under blankets. She’s recently had extensive surgery to be spayed and remove a number of lumps, and throughout it, she’s been such a trooper! Her foster dad describes her demeanor as always suggesting, “I am patiently waiting for you to snuggle with me again.” She loves meeting people, yet is quiet […]

Tobie

Tobie is adopted! In addition to having movie star looks, young Tobie is whip smart and loves to learn new tricks. And he is very affectionate, giving away kisses all the time. Unfortunately, while in rescue we discovered he has separation anxiety and was not at all ok with being left on his own. Lucky for him, he found a wonderful forever home where he will get consistent care and training, and also have a furry best friend to help alleviate his anxiety. We’re sure he will blossom into a great dog and quite a love bug. Thanks to Dalia, […]
