Murphy is a handsome 55-pound boy, born on 12/25/2024, with a zest for life that shines through in everything he does. He’s the kind of dog who turns an ordinary day into an adventure—whether he’s chasing a frisbee, splashing in the water, or heading out for a run with his favorite person. If you’re looking for a companion to keep up with an active lifestyle, Murphy is all in.
This smart guy already has a great foundation. He’s house-trained, crate-trained, and knows a variety of basic and extended cues. He’s also loose leash-trained, which makes walks and outings enjoyable and easy. Murphy is eager to learn and thrives with guidance, making him a wonderful candidate for continued training and bonding with his future family.
Murphy absolutely loves people and greets new friends with enthusiasm and friendliness. He’s affectionate, social, and happiest when he’s spending time with his humans—whether that’s playing outside, going on adventures, or simply relaxing nearby in the grass with a prized stick.
When it comes to other dogs, Murphy can be a bit sensitive at first and may feel nervous depending on the situation, but he also truly enjoys playing and running with the right canine companions. With proper introductions and a good match, he can thrive in a home with another dog or enjoy being your one-and-only.
Murphy would do best in a home without cats, as he enjoys chasing them. He’s recommended for a household with older children (12+), where his energy and enthusiasm will be appreciated and understood.
Like many young, intelligent dogs, Murphy does best with structure. He’s comfortable being crated when left alone and does well for a few hours during the day. If left to his own devices, he may get a little mischievous—he has a particular fondness for “borrowing” socks and kitchen towels! He may also dig or explore the yard if unsupervised, so a home that provides guidance, supervision, and regular exercise will help him continue to thrive. Murphy has shown some guarding behaviors with high-value items, but he responds well to trading.
