Cody (was Ben) – passed away December 2017

I wanted to let you know that our beloved Cody passed just before the holidays. He was 15, and had a wonderful life, passing peacefully in my arms. In his last two years, we welcomed a new family member, our daughter Annalise and they became fast friends. I will always be thankful for you helping bring Cody into my life. I cannot imagine my 20s and 30s without him. We’ve made a donation in his honor, and will keep him and you in our hearts forever. -Christian Buss

Ted

Ted has been adopted! We’re not sure where Ted spent his previous life, but he seemed completely untrained when he came to us. He would jump up on everyone he met, and was clueless about how to behave indoors. He acted like a 41-pound puppy, zooming around and grabbing anything and everything he could reach. His foster family had their hands full trying to teach him some manners, but they discovered he was a fast learner, and that he liked everyone he met. After a few weeks, clever Ted had settled down so much, his foster home decided to keep […]

Freckles aka Freckles2

Incredibly, Freckles spent an entire year living at a shelter. She had done nothing wrong, but her owner got caught up in a legal matter that required the shelter to keep her until the issue was sorted out. The shelter staff grew to love Freckles, and reported that she got along very well with adults, kids, other dogs, and even cats! In spite of her long period of captivity, Freckles retained her sweet, funny disposition.  Thank you Patty for fostering Freckles, calling her “the perfect dog.” Her new home feels as if they won the jackpot, getting to adopt such […]

Hansel aka Hansel2

Hansel stood out from the beginning as being quite handsome—and amazingly mellow for a two year old GSP. Maybe it was the heartworm that slowed him down. He soon found a loving foster home with humans who had lost their beloved GSP a few months earlier, and a nest that had just become empty as their son went off to college. The house was too quiet–good timing and a perfect setup a foster failure! They knew from the beginning that sweet Hansel would be a keeper, because he was such a good boy and got along with everyone he met. […]

Grace aka Grace2

Grace was picked up as a stray, wearing an activated shock collar, the battery still good. I guess she decided to say farewell to that old life, the one that had gotten her into such poor condition – with worn teeth, two cracked molars, skin infections, and numerous callouses on her knees, elbows and rump. She was malnourished, and so weak that her skinny legs would shake with the least exertion. With vet care and foster home attention, she soon thrived. Grace turned out to be a gentle soul, cuddly and loving. When she first met her foster dad, she […]

Franny and Ellsie

Franny and Ellsie – Together Forever! Who ever thought we’d use the phrase “lucky dogs” on this mother-daughter pair? Franny and her daughter Ellsie spent their early years chained up in a backyard. They came to us unspayed, and heartworm-positive. Treatment required them to be confined and kept quiet for months, which they endured patiently (thank you Dalia, Chance, Sally, Cheryl and Chris for fostering these girls). Once they were finally healthy, they were pretty keyed up. This made them a bit challenging to place, but they got lucky. They’ve been adopted by a loving family with a huge back […]
