Today we said goodbye to our sweet dog Bandit. It’s never easy saying goodbye and this was especially hard because from the first day I met Bandit, we had a strong connection immediately and he has been very special to me for the last almost 6 years. At our first meeting, he came up and sniffed me and then brought me a toy so that we could play fetch (something he loved to do until the day he went to the hospital). When we adopted Bandit (at 6 years old), he was a bit of a mess. He had just […]
Vivian (now Nala) is adopted! This cute puppy showed up at a shelter as a stray. She had a hernia that was repaired when she got spayed, but it was soon discovered that she was leaking urine. All day and all night, urine dripped and soaked everywhere Nala went. It turned out she had some anatomical irregularities that required a long series of surgeries over the course of a year to correct. Her foster family stuck with her through all of the cleanups, laundry, and surgeries–having fallen in love with her sweet personality. It helped that their GSP, Sadie, thought […]
Pippa was just a pipsqueak (barely 3 months old) when her owner surrendered her because she had been exposed to Parvo, which is contagious, difficult to manage and can be fatal for a young pup. Thank you, Anna, for fostering Pippa until she was healthy enough to move to a new home. Thank you, Lara & Mallory, for continuing Pippa’s training and socialization until she was ready for you to adopt her.
Whiskery Otto charmed his foster home by getting along well with the pack, even the cat. (The chicken was another story). In spite of his age and size, he proved himself to be a real snuggle puppy. Thank you, Catherine and Jen, for fostering the Ottopotamus, and thanks Peri and Brian for fostering and adopting this guy. They wanted a dog with a big personality, and they got one!
Brody was so skinny when he came into rescue, you could clearly see his ribs and hip bones, but that did not stop him from wagging his tail upon being released from the shelter. We never discovered why he’d lost so much weight, but after several rounds of digestive enzymes and deworming treatments, he finally began to put it on again. In fact, he gained thirty pounds! He arrived at his second foster home within hours of their beloved GSP passing. They had no intention of adopting him, just needed to be around some fur and to have something meaningful […]
